High-Tops: The Trend That Doesn’t Fade

In the now, retro is what it’s all about. Throwbacks have made a comeback from head to toe, with old-school team jerseys featuring the names and numbers of past stars a big hit, and the basketball influenced high-top sneakers that were popular throughout the second half of the eighties and the first half of the nineties laced up on the feet of every hip-hop and pop star who matters. Here are some of our favorites, available now at Famous Footwear.

First, some sneaks from adidas that would make Run-DMC proud. The Raleigh 9TIS high-top is a basketball-influenced sneaker that looks good from the court to the mall. Old-school looks don’t mean a step down in comfort, though—they feature a cushioning Ortholite® sockliner that keeps your feet feeling (and smelling) fresh. The Raleigh 9TIS are available in colors and sizes for men, women and kids so no matter your gender or age, you can look right in three stripes. In addition, the adidas NEO Raleigh in a shiny black is on point for gals with swagger. Worn with skinny jeans the throwback look is complete.

For those who prefer the Swoosh to the Stripes, Nike’s got its own retro court style in the high-top game. The leather looks of the Court Borough Mid provide a streetwise appeal that wouldn’t feel out of place in 1986 or 1996, yet sets trends in 2016. With a padded collar and plenty of cushioning, again you can look retro without having to feel that way.

If your look is a little more west coast than east, and you’re more likely to be seen at the skate park than the basketball court, Vans has you covered. The Chapman for men and the Milton for women feature Vans’ iconic side stripe, a look that’s been Off the Wall and off the hook for fifty years, along with a new padded collar touch that takes a classic look into the now.

The young ones aren’t left out on the high-top trend. The Converse Chuck Taylor Easy Slip brings the timeless All Star look to a shoe that’s easy for kids to put on. It’s got the lace up front, but kids can slip in and out with ease with the twin Velcro® tabs for a fit that looks right and feels right too.
