“Midi skirts have grown on me little by little because at first I thought they were the “awkward” length, but now I appreciate how different they are and love them. If you are planning on investing in one, treat it like anything else: sneakers pair nicely with them for a casual look, flats for a business casual look, and heels to dress it up. And y’all know sneakers are my favorite. Nathan and I are actually that couple that matches occasionally, and he purchased a pair of adidas, too — because why not?!”
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: As a high school teacher and graduate student, my personal style sways from cozy-casual to cozy-chic continuously. It’s no secret that comfort is always a must wherever I am! Whether I pair sneakers with a dress, or wear booties with my favorite pair of distressed denim, I make sure that I am comfortable for life’s busy days.
Q: What makes you feel confident throughout the day when it comes to style?
A: To be completely honest, I feel most confident with my style when my outfit has been planned out the night before. My days start early, and I’m lucky if my shoes even match if I end up fumbling around my closet the morning of! When I’ve planned my outfit in advance, I’ve taken into consideration where I will be, what the weather will be like, and what new style combinations I’ve been wanting to try. That way, I feel ready to go, comfortable, beautiful, and confident to tackle whatever my day may hold right from the start!
Q: What’s your go-to style of shoe this season, and why?
A: This season, my go-to style of shoe would most definitely be my ankle-high peep-toe booties! Not only can they be worn for both spring and summer, but they can be dressed up or down depending on where I need to be. Not to mention, I feel like they instantly complete an outfit effortlessly because they also double as the “statement piece” of an outfit.
Q: How are you taking your own #stepforward as a life and style blogger?
A: One huge #stepforward moment took place recently as a blogger when I finally gave myself permission to embrace (and remember even), why I started blogging in the first place. It can be easy to get caught up on what it needs to “look like,” so to speak. In the past several months, I’ve allowed myself to not compare myself to others or become stressed out over things that are not my top priority. From the very beginning, my goal has been to encourage others by sharing my life openly, and to inspire others for greatness through my personal style and my faith. However, now I feel like I’ve had a clearer picture of what that genuinely looks like and it’s so exciting to feel like I have reached that point on my blogging journey!
