Romantic Ways To Celebrate Valentine's Day

Cancel the cards and put presents on pause this Valentine’s Day. Instead, express devotion for your loved one by doing something romantic that puts your love in the limelight and you both at center stage. A romantic way to celebrate is doing something together that you both love — whether that means dining on a sumptuous steak supper at home or savoring a romantic stroll. Make this Valentine’s Day about romance — the kind that shines bright with love and affection because the two of you are spending time together.

Take on Travel

Surprise your hubby with a night away — sans kids — and plan a quick trip. That might mean getting a hotel room down the street for the night or — if time and finances permit — a weekend getaway. Once there, order up room service, book a relaxing couple’s massage, indulge yourselves in a romantic movie or take a stroll on the grounds. However you choose to spend your alone time, keep the focus on each other — and make sure it’s uninterrupted. Put away the cell phones, so you stay busy whispering sweet nothings.

Slow and Steady Wins the Love

With the hustle and bustle of every day life comes the notion that busy is better — but not on Valentine’s Day. Slow things down so you can remember your fast-and-furious love. Stroll hand-in-hand through an art gallery or museum, or enjoy a leisurely dinner and a bottle of your favorite wine at a cozy restaurant. You can also enjoy a heartfelt stage production or head to the movie theater for a romantic comedy. Keep a box of conversation hearts tucked in your purse; pull out a few to spark some sweet talk throughout the evening.

Dine on a Sumptuous Supper

Turn your dining room table or living room floor into a relaxing, romantic haven. Think sumptuous when it comes to your fare — lobster pasta with a delectable cream sauce, petite sirloin or a velvety chocolate and a cheese fondue accompanied by crusty bread and strawberries for dipping. Dot the room with white candles, dim the lights or get a fire going. For the ultimate relaxing environment, bring a mattress — and the bubbly — to the floor. Cuddle in to watch a movie — or do whatever else crosses your mind.

Play Together, Stay Together

Play a lighthearted game of truth or dare with your sweetie. Take turns asking each other intriguing love questions or dare your partner to do something silly to declare his love for you. You can also create a sentimental scavenger hunt by hiding sweet treats such as chocolate candies and Cupid cookies or intimate, thoughtful gifts for the other to find. Woo each other to the romantic items by displaying little love notes throughout the house.
