When you’re packing for yourself and the rest of your family, think about practicality and efficiency. That way you look great and don’t have tons of luggage.
If you’re planning a vacation, you’ll want to consider bringing one pair of vacation shoes in each of these categories for yourself:
- Sneakers for hiking, biking or heavy walking days
- Flip-flops for the beach or pool
- Versatile flats for shopping and sightseeing
- Dressy shoes that are still comfortable
When thinking about all family members, boys can get away with fewer pairs of shoes — perhaps just sneakers and flip-flops, depending on if your evenings will be dressy or not. Men and girls can sometimes consolidate the last two categories into one. Consider this your comprehensive list for women, and pare down from there.
The first things I want to pack are workout gear and a pair of sneakers that I can wear jogging, bike riding and even sightseeing. I like these sneakers because they are super comfortable and incredibly cool.
We will also be hitting some beaches so I am bringing my favorite pink and white bikini with a matching cover up and three more bathing suits that can work with that same cover up. The challenge is finding one pair of flip-flops that will work with all three bathing suits and transition to a day of shopping. If there’s not one particular color that works with all of your swimwear, go metallic, like these flip-flops from Nike.
I never travel without a great pair of flats that I can wear with my shorts, skirts and dresses. This year, I love the bohemian chic look. I bought some chunky wood bangles, necklaces with natural stones and some fun crystal earrings. These are great for travel because they are inexpensive and can dress up any outfit. I also found the perfect flat to work with my jewelry.
Now that I have everything I need for my trip, it’s time to get packing. I have great outfits, the perfect shoes and fun accessories that will all work together. There is even room in my suitcase for souvenirs and any other goodies we may find on our travels.
